Obsessive actions and behaviours
These are quite
different from Compulsive actions and behaviours and indeed
the thought processes of the Obsessive are very different to
that of the Compulsive.
The greatest difference is the fact that the Obsessive gains no relief from
the enactment of his or her obsessive thoughts or the actions which they
repeatedly perform to relieve the symptoms which they suffer but
unfortunately this only serves to produce more anxiety and distress.
The Compulsive does have some reward for their inexplicable thoughts and
actions in the shape of an easing of their symptoms for a short while at
least.
With this in mind here the explanation of the Obsessive Compulsive
disorder.
Always common are recurrent obsessional thoughts or compulsive acts. Obsessional thoughts are ideas, images or impulses that enter in a persons
thought processes again and again in a very stereo-typical form. The Obsessive-compulsive is well aware that these thoughts "often
frightening or disgusting" to person come from themselves but has no control
over them.
