Recurrent Headaches
A rare thing is a person who has not at some time or another suffered a headache .
It was estimated by Newsweek (1988) that 45 million Americans suffer chronic or
recurrent headaches with intensity ranging from dull ache to excruciating pain.
Headaches usually appear in adolescence and often become a recurring problem.
Their occurrence is almost always linked to some sort of stressor major or
minor.
Migraine
Characterised by pain that is described as excruciating. Classically begins with
pulsating pain coinciding with the heart beat. The pain becomes continuous .
Often nausea and vomiting , visual distortion , numbness, speech and
co-ordination problems follow.
Cluster Headaches
Similar to migraines but the symptoms are more Pure pain. This often produces
head banging or wall pounding in an attempt to alleviate the pain.
