of spiders (arachnophobia) to not being able to speak in public
(glossophobia) phobias can be very restrictive on your life.

cause of your phobia, removing the 'unconscious' cause of the problem
offers a permanent 'cure' of your phobia, removing the symptoms for good.
What is a phobia ?
A
symbolic representation of an internal anxiety.
Although some Phobias appear to serve an obvious purpose (fear of
fire, drowning, heights etc.) others seem to make no sense at all but as
strange as some phobias seem your mind thinks they are all serving an
important purpose.
Are Phobias and
Fears the same thing ?
Many people suffer phobic reactions
to things from feeling a little bit silly about something to a full blown
panic attack when they are forced to face their phobia.
Most Phobias are not directly related to the
cause of the emotion, they are 'symbolic of it'.
Phobias are often called fears and fears are
often thought of as phobias but they are quite different to each other. Fear
has an obvious focus on danger to us. Phobias are irrational, excessive
reactions to often non dangerous objects animals or situations yet they
cause huge amounts of anxiety, heart pounding, tremors, shortness of breath,
dizziness etc.
I specialise in the
treatment of
Emetophobia or
Emetephobia
-
a fear of being sick
, phagophobia, vomitophobia, vomit phobia, sickness phobia.
At no time are any of my
clients expected or encouraged to watch anyone be sick or be
made to think of being sick in order to expose them to their
phobia. Emetophobia is not about being sick or anything to
do with seeing someone being sick! It is an external
expression of internal anxiety. Hypno-analysis finds the
cause of this anxiety and removes the effect (phobia/ fear)
for good.
Associated fears; gagging, seeing others being sick, choking
on food, pregnancy (due to possibility of morning sickness),
drowning, and 'social Phobia'.
This Phobia seems to effect more women than men, and tends
to have a very disabling effect on the sufferer; quite often
the person has to avoid all places where there is a
possibility of themselves (or others) being sick; pubs,
restaurants, clubbing, eating in front of others etc.
Because of the association between eating and being sick,
the sufferer often feels a little obsessive about what and
where they will eat. A lot of sufferers tend to view being
sick as 'horrible, dirty, etc, and so it is quite common for emetophobics to also have fears of other situations where
they might feel the same way; going to the toilet , or the
inability to urinate in front of others
(shy bladder).
I specialise in the cure of the fear of being sick,
treatment of this phobia which is a pathological fear of being sick (puke,
puking, chucking up, vomit, vomiting or throwing up) can and does effect
people in many different ways;
Some sufferers have a
fear of others being sick while they have no fear of being sick
themselves. Others find just the mention of sick ,puke or vomit or the
smell and /or sounds of someone being sick is enough to bring on a severe
phobic reaction which in turn produce intense / strong emotions of fear,
disgust, panic and even feeling sick themselves.
'Emetophobia' when given
its medical name affects people's lives, often very profoundly in almost
every area of their lives; Travelling becomes a very real problem for the emetophobic due to the obvious fear of travel sickness, air sickness, sea
sickness which can cause an aversion to cars, trains, tube trains, boats
and flying.
An avoidance of certain
social situations like a fear of eating out, pubs, clubs, parties are
avoided due to the chances of others being drunk or eating rich foods
which in turn could make people sick. Along with such fears come other pre
occupation with illness (sickness), tummy bugs, sickness bugs, stomach
bugs and the danger of food poisoning, so many food types are often
avoided, rich foods, cream, cheese, spicy foods, milk, rice pudding,
custard and the very amounts of food eaten become important along with the
time of day they are eaten to reduce the chances of being sick.
Often pregnancy is
dreaded or avoided because of the very real risk of morning sickness, in
fact the avoidance of children is often found (because they are prone to
sickness bugs when young). Emetophobia can even effect your sex life or at
least parts of it (oral sex is often avoided because of choking and
gagging and the fear of this producing an effect of being sick).
Hypno-Analysis is used to
great effect to find the permanent cure or resolution of Emetophobia,
Coprophobia or Corprophobia

fear of going to the toilet (passing faeces) ,toilet
phobia
A fear of anything related to passing faeces, shit/shitting, toilets, public
toilets, being heard going to the toilet, feeling unclean or dirty
generally. Another fairly common Phobia. Typically the sufferer would find
it difficult (if not impossible) to use a public toilet. A lot of the time
the
fear is specifically of losing bowel control -
in public. Quite often
the sufferer has very precise routines they have to adhere to - in order to
be able to go to the toilet.
Sometimes people with
coprophobia/coporophobia
use laxatives to avoid the
feeling of going to the loo, and sometimes they might even 'auto-disempact'
I specialise in the cure of the fear of passing faeces (pooing,
shitting, crapping etc), treatment of this phobia which is a pathological
fear of anything related to faeces, feces, pooing, shit or shitting,
particularly in
public toilets
can and does effect people in many
different ways;
Coprophobia (often spelt
corophobia or koprophobia) and also known as
scatophobia is very often
associated with public toilets (loos) where the sufferer finds it
impossible for many reasons to use.
There are strong links
with other phobias such as
Shy Bladder (the inability to urinate, pee, wee
etc in front of others or in public toilets) and social phobia/anxiety
which produces many inhibitions about bodily functions.
The fear of pooing
(shitting, taking a dump, crapping) produce a great deal of anxiety for
the coprophobic, making using public toilets impossible or very difficult.
The fear of others hearing them passing faeces, breaking wind and the
often associated feelings of being unclean, germs etc make going to the
toilet very difficult , often impossible.
For many who fear passing
faeces it is a personal recurring fear of the feelings of passing faeces or the constant fear of messing themselves in public by losing bowel
control. To help prevent this many coprophobics use laxatives to remove
much of the sensation of going to the loo (as a side effect the timing of
when one might go to the toilet is much easier to control)
Social
Phobia
a fear of embarrassing, or humiliating 'on the spot' type
situations (in public) ,social anxiety, social anxiety disorder, fear of
being judged
Social Phobia
is probably the
most common phobia there is; a pervasive fear of any situation where the
sufferer is likely to feel 'on the spot', embarrassed, humiliated or judged
- for example; dinner parties, public speaking, interviews, appearing in
court, singing, stuttering etc Associated symptoms: sensitivity to
criticism, negative self image, fear of rejection, difficulty in being
assertive and feelings of inferiority . On a more general level, the social
phobic worries continuously about how others 'see' them, and what others may
think about them - it is not surprising then that the sufferer usually
spends a lot of time creating the image they want others to see. Usually the
social phobic is quite adept at concealing their anxiety from others,
although there is quite often a difficulty in maintaining eye contact.
In the D.S.M.4 (the Mental Health 'Bible') the main criteria for social
phobia is listed as; A marked and persistent fear of one or more social
or performance situations in which the person is exposed to unfamiliar
people or to possible scrutiny by others. The individual fears that he/she
will act in a way that will be humiliating or embarrassing.
Some symptoms
that may appear alongside (or be caused by) social phobia or social anxiety
are.....
A fear of public speaking
A fear of talking on the telephone
A fear of writing in front of someone (even signing a cheque!)
Blushing, or a fear of blushing
Stuttering or stammering
A lack of confidence
Working too hard (to please others)
Setting unachievable high standards (and feeling bad when they are not met)
A preoccupation with how you look: perfecting an image you want others to
see (NOT vanity - this is about trying to 'blend in')
Certain twitches or 'tics'
Shy bladder (men) not being able to pee, when on the spot
Certain sexual inhibitions - due to 'performance anxiety'
Repeated failure of driving test - due to 'performance anxiety'
A persistent fear of failure, or 'not making the grade'
Basically any situation in life where you might feel embarrassed, on the
spot, judged, silly or out of control etc.
Symptoms of a phobia

De-realisation (feeling unreal) or de-personalisation (feeling
detached from self)
