Sleep Disorders  - treated with Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy at Openpalm Hypnotherapy in St Neots Cambridgeshire UK

Sleeping disorders are often considered as merely part of other nervous disorders, the chicken and the egg question arises with sleeping disorders, so it is safe to assume that if the predominant symptom is one of broken sleep patterns etc. the client is suffering from a sleeping disorder and is treated as such.

Insomnia
This usually includes poor quality sleep over a length of time .
A difficulty in falling asleep or staying asleep or indeed awakening early.

Hypersomnia
This disorder produces over sleepiness and or sleep attacks. There is often an inability to be able to rouse oneself from the sleepy feelings. Obviously the conditions of this disorder take into account the amount of sleep and physical activity which a person has been or is being subjected to and are considered to be within acceptable normal limits.

Sleep Walking-(Somnambulism )
Well known and relatively common sleeping disorder , often children sleep walk during the first third of a nights sleep cycle.
The sleep walking often goes on into adult life during times of extra stress.
There is rarely any danger involved in the act of sleep walking except the obvious physical dangers of falling over or other such accidents. Occasionally the sleep walking can produce some concern as sleep walkers are sometimes known to wander outside and their are often the added dangers which are self explanatory.

Sleep Terrors
A very different form of disorder is the sleep or night terrors . These typically wake the individuals from the first third of their nights sleep with high pitched screams, rapid breathing excessive sweating and heart pounding similar to panic attacks. However these attacks are of limited duration and are less frightening to the sufferer, manly due to the lack of recall the sufferer has of the incident, than to the people around at the time the attacks occur.

Nightmares
Most people have suffered a nightmare at some time in their lives and there is little need to explain the symptoms . However if the bad dreams become repetitive and the subject matter constantly very disturbing they can become a very real problem.
